Substance dynamic texture format is now fully and natively supported within Maya 2012 and up, bringing all the power of substances into your favorite DCC tool.

NATIVE INTEGRATION, NO ADDITIONAL PLUG-IN REQUIRED

Since Maya 2012, the Substance file format is natively integrated within your favorite DCC application.

Using substances in Maya is as simple as any other bitmap image format: create a Substance node either in Hypershade or Node Editor, load your substance file, create your material, apply onto your mesh, and here you go!

Now the only, slight difference between a bitmap texture and a substance is that substances are multi-output and dynamic.

  • Multi output means that from one file you get diffuse, normal, bump, height, specular, AO, etc. for free, obtaining way richer visual results...
  • Dynamic means that you can tweak the substance parameters to customize it to your needs: Tweak the parameters and you will see the changes in the viewport in real-time!
