Caustics are the envelope of light reflected or refracted by a surface or object.
In Computer Graphics, they can be computed by a rendering engine supporting Global Illumination and will require additional render time. Using textures maps to fake surface caustics can save you hours of rendering time. Using Substance, we created a real-time dynamic and animatable caustics map that can be used to simulate planar surface caustics (such as water in a pool, river or ocean...) for your architectural work and that you can render as an image sequence to use in any real-time engine. See the video below to get an idea of what this caustics map can do!
Features : - animated loopable caustics map - fully customizable - seamless - real time feedback - generate loopable images sequence using Substance Player - use directly in 3ds Max and Maya 2012 This Caustics map comes along with our Substance Player package, and is totally FREE !
